Dr. Joe Allen is CEO of 9 Foundations, Inc., associate professor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and director of Harvard’s Healthy Buildings Program. He’s also the coauthor of a landmark book, Healthy Buildings: How Indoor Spaces Drive Performance and Productivity, which was named a Fortune magazine Best Book of the Year in 2020. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Allen has served as commissioner of The Lancet COVID-19 Commission and Chair of its Task Force of Safe Work, Safe Schools, and Safe Travel.

An internationally renowned expert and sought-after advisor, Dr. Allen’s work fuses the fields of health science, building science, and business science to improve the health of indoor spaces and drive business performance. At 9 Foundations, Inc., he and his team of experts provide strategic healthy buildings solutions to senior executives across major sectors of the economy.

Dr. Allen has authored over 80 peer-reviewed scientific papers — including in such journals as JAMA, Science, and The Lancet — and is a regular contributor to The New York Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal. His television appearances include several shows across every major network: CNN, MSNBC, FOX News, CBS, NBC, and ABC.

Marissa Rainbolt, MPH, is a health scientist with experience in public health risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, worker safety, and climate change resilience. Prior to 9F, she was a researcher at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. There, she co-developed Harvard’s Health Co-Benefits of the Built Environment Tool, which quantifies the health and climate impacts of building-related energy decisions. Because of this cutting-edge research, she was invited to contribute to Harvard Business School’s course on climate adaptation. Marissa currently serves on the Secretariat for The Lancet COVID-19 Commission’s ‘Safe Work, Safe School, and Safe Travel’ Task Force, and is lead author of the Task Force’s final report on necessary global actions for future pandemic resilience. Throughout the pandemic, she has advised leading organizations on risk mitigation and led the development and execution of risk mitigation strategies, public health education and training programs, building operations guidelines, and outbreak response. As a public health regulatory authority and worker safety specialist in Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), Marissa received a recognition award for digital innovation. In this role, Marissa gained interdisciplinary experience across multiple EH&S programs, including food safety, water quality, physical safety, planning and administration, indoor air quality, fire/life safety, and radiation safety. Marissa has a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Environmental and Occupational Health from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Washington State University with an emphasis on forestry and sustainability.

Dr. Emily Jones has trained as an environmental health scientist and engineer and has worked in academic research and environmental consulting for eight years. She has authored several peer-reviewed publications investigating how building design and operations affect indoor environmental conditions, evaluating ways in which indoor environments impact occupant comfort and performance, and developing strategies to remediate heavy metal contamination in natural water bodies. Dr. Jones received her PhD in Population Health Sciences from Harvard University, her MSE in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Princeton University, and her BS in Environmental Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley.

Dr. James McDevitt received his master's degree in Industrial Hygiene and PhD in Environmental Health Sciences from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland, followed by a three-year post-doctoral fellowship in Environmental Health Sciences at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Industrial Hygiene. He has over 30 years of combined experience practicing industrial hygiene in the U.S. Air Force, performing bio-aerosol research, and private consulting. He has had faculty appointments at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and University of Maryland. He is the coauthor of a book chapter, patent holder, and author/coauthor of 31 published, peer-reviewed journal articles.

Linnea Champ is a Health Scientist for 9 Foundations, Inc. Linnea conducts research and analysis on all aspects of healthy buildings. She earned her Master of Public Health degree in Environmental Health in Sustainability, Health and the Global Environment from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts in biological chemistry from Grinnell College. Prior to joining 9 Foundations Inc., Linnea worked as a clinical research coordinator for Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where she managed a home environmental intervention program that led to improved pediatric asthma outcomes.

Natalie Daranyi is a Health Scientist for 9 Foundations, Inc. Natalie has professional experience in the public and private sector assessing regulatory compliance, conducting risk assessment, facilitating root cause analysis, and managing workplace safety programs.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Natalie has collaborated on COVID-19 policies and guidance in higher education. She has a background in industrial hygiene, specifically in indoor air quality research and investigations, resulting in funding and building renovations at a university campus. Natalie earned her Master of Public Health degree in Environmental and Occupational Health from the University of Arizona. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health from the University of Arizona.

Katie Giasullo is the Director of Operations and Executive Assistant to Joseph Allen. She has professional experience in administrative work over the past ten years, working with executives and teams to manage day to day business operations. Katie earned her MBA from Walden University. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing from Siena College.

Sarah Pappas is Director of Communications at 9 Foundations. She manages 9F’s external and internal communication strategy, including audience engagement, message dissemination, and business growth.

Previously, Sarah facilitated public health and communication innovation at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and later served as producer of largescale brand initiatives for academic, sustainability, and arts organizations at Boston-based design studio Moth. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication and Master of Liberal Arts from Boston University.

Dr. Leslie Cadet is an accomplished Air Force veteran whose work as a flight surgeon aided in the successful execution of 1,080 combat missions and 2,000 airlift missions in support of Operations INHERENT RESOLVE and ENDURING FREEDOM. As a medical director of the flight medicine clinic where she was assigned, she provided occupational health oversight to a base populace of approximately 5,100 active duty personnel.

After completing her military service, Dr. Cadet transitioned to the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where her love of aviation continued as a member of the Aviation for Health research team, where she contributed her expertise as a former aviation medical examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Dr. Cadet is currently a board-certified occupational and environmental medicine physician in Southern California, where she enjoys providing high-quality care to a myriad of workers throughout various industries. In addition to direct clinical care, her work promotes a healthy workforce through injury prevention and disability management.

Maureen Ehrenberg is CEO of Blue Skrye, Innovation in the Built Environment. An internationally recognized expert on real estate business transformation, strategic redesign for the future of work and facility management, Maureen serves as an advisor and board member to global organizations, investors, and real estate technology providers. With over 30 years of experience, she has deep expertise in providing real estate advice and services to companies globally. Before founding Blue Skrye, Maureen was Global Head of Real Estate Operations and Strategic Services for WeWork. She has held global executive roles with JLL, CBRE, and Grubb & Ellis Company.

Maureen serves on the Americas Board of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS); and the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Overseas Building Operations, Industry Advisory Group (IAG). She is a management trustee for the International Union of Operating Engineers, a trustee of Roosevelt University, and a member of the Real Estate Advisory board for the New York State Teachers Retirement System (NYSTRS). She has also served on the Global Board of CoreNet Global, IFMA (International Facility Management Association), and OCSRE (Open Standards Consortium for Real Estate). A frequent speaker, Maureen has been recognized as an industry thought leader with an Innovator of the Year Award from CoreNet Global, the Chair's Citation Award from IFMA, The Julie Devine Digital Impact and Lifetime Achievement Awards for Vision in technology from RealComm and has received several awards and recognition for leadership and service in the real estate industry. Maureen attended The Business School at City, University of London, where she earned a BSc Joint Honours in Economics & Accounting.

Carl W. Howell has over two decades of experience in the non-for-profit sector dedicating his career to mitigating the impacts of poverty and the disparities across social determinants of health. He is the Chief Program Officer (CPO) at Community Teamwork, Inc (CTI), one of the largest non-profits in New England and one of only two organizations in the state of Massachusetts that is a Community Action Agencies (CAP), a Regional Housing Agency, and a Community Development Corporation (CDC). Carl is recognized as a strategic leader and advocate for equitable, affordable, and healthy housing both regionally and nationally. He has served in a board and advisor role on several housing and higher education organizations in New England.

Carl currently serves in advisory and/or board roles for Common Ground Inc., a Community Development Corporation (CDC); Merrimack Valley Housing Partnership, a first-time homeownership organization-focused on 1st generation and BIPOC households; Middlesex Community College’s Truth -Racial Healing and Transformation Center, a Community College’s department to support Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice efforts; Community Housing Inc., a 40B monitoring organization; DEI Consortium of Lowell, a grassroots advocacy entity; and he is a Co-founder of the Housing Choice Coalition of Lowell- which advocates to change policy that enable discriminatory housing practices.

Professor Juliette Kayyem has spent the last two decades in both state and federal government managing complex policy initiatives and organizing government responses to major crises. Juliette is the Robert and Renee Belfer Senior Lecturer at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, where she is faculty chair of the Homeland Security and Security and Global Health Projects. Previously, she served as President Obama's Assistant Secretary at the Department of Homeland Security and before that as Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick's Homeland Security Advisor.

A CNN national security analyst, Pulitzer Prize finalist, and contributor for The Atlantic and WGBH, Juliette also advises governors, mayors, and corporations on crisis management, especially during the COVID-19 response. With nearly 200,000 Twitter followers, she was recently described as providing a "basic truth of COVID: reality bites, but it is all we got." Juliette is the author or editor of six books, including the best-selling book Security Mom; her next book,The Devil Never Sleeps: How to Prepare When Disasters Are No Longer Random and Rare, will be published in 2022 by Public Affairs. Juliette lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with her husband, Judge David Barron of the First Circuit Court of Appeals, and has three children.
